Victorian farmers impacted by severe drought conditions will receive additional assistance through the Primary Producer Support Payments program, which provides eligible producers with the equivalent of a 40 per cent reduction on their property rates.
The program is part of a wider $144 million Drought Support Package that includes waivers of livestock duties, reduced regulatory fees and charges, and targeted grants.
More than 2,800 farmers have already accessed grants, over 490 have received free technical consultations, and more than 120 Look Over the Farm Gate events have been approved to support mental health and wellbeing.
The program is being delivered with 12 local councils and aims to ease financial pressure while supporting farm families and regional communities through ongoing drought conditions.
