Montague Farms trials compostable stickers on JAZZ™ apples

Montague Farms is leading the way in sustainable fruit packaging, launching Australia’s first compostable sticker trial on JAZZ™ apples.

The initiative aims to replace traditional single-use plastic stickers, which cannot be recycled or composted, with an eco-friendly alternative.

The trial follows the success of a similar program on plums earlier this year, using the Sinclair – T55 sticker developed by J-Tech. Certified home compostable by the Australasian Bioplastics Association and compliant with global composting standards, the sticker is the result of more than 17 years of research.

Running from August 2025 for around three months, the trial will operate from Montague Farms’ Narre Warren North facility, which packs over 350 million pieces of fruit annually.

Shoppers can look for the green-bordered stickers at Woolworths, Coles, Costco, and selected independent greengrocers.

Since their Australian debut in 2009, JAZZ™ apples have been loved for their sweet-tangy flavour and crunch. Now, they are set to lead the industry towards a more sustainable future.
