Collaboration key to the future of rural industries

The 2025 AgriFutures Stakeholder Summit, held from 20–24 July in Canberra, will be the largest yet, bringing together over 150 participants from across Australia.

This national gathering includes Horizon Scholars, Rural Women’s Award finalists, industry innovators, policymakers, and researchers.

For the first time, these diverse voices will collaborate in a week-long program designed to tackle pressing challenges in agriculture and drive real outcomes. A key feature is the National Hackathon, where cross-disciplinary teams address issues such as climate-smart rice production and the future of poultry research careers.

Held in Canberra to maximise engagement with decision-makers, the Summit includes a high-profile morning tea at Parliament House with senior ministers, MPs, and the AgriFutures Board.

AgriFutures Chair Cathy McGowan AO said the event is about action, not just ideas. “Regional and rural Australia is full of solutions. When we work together, the impact is national.”

The week concludes with a showcase dinner featuring leading voices reflecting on how courage, collaboration and innovation are shaping the future of Australian agriculture.
